Summer chaos as Luton Airport STOPS flights after runways melt

NERVOUS tourists were affected by the chaos after the runway MELTED at Luton Airport due to scorching weather.

The airport was forced to suspend flights, leading to chaos among families traveling on summer vacation.

Luton showed that there is a “defect in the surface” caused by today’s scorching weather.

The airport said: “After today’s maximum temperatures, a defect has been detected on the runway surface.

“Engineers were called to the site and lately the paint is being repaired to resume operations as soon as possible.

“We would like it for the inconvenience. “

The airport has a runway with flights that would be diverted to nearby airports.

This comes as sweltering temperatures have closed schools across the country and caused widespread delays.

The track also “melted” at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire as the UK struggled to cope with the weather.

The British are suggested to stay indoors as the mercury reached 37. 5°C at Kew Gardens in west London today.

Meanwhile, attractions such as Chester Zoo in Cheshire, Maldon Promenade Zoo in Essex and York Labyrinth in North Yorkshire have closed due to the heat.

Beaches and fairgrounds closed their doors for fear that the sand would be “hot for the kids” as temperatures rose.

The all-time record of 38. 7°C in the UK was set in Cambridge in July 2019.
