The 5 best movies like ‘Trap’ to watch right now

Now that “Trap” has been in theaters for a few days, you may want similar videos to fill the void left by this intense thriller.

“Trap” is about a boy named Cooper (Josh Hartnett) who attends a pop concert with his teenage daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue), only to realize that they are in the middle of a dark and sinister event. It turns out that the concert is for the government to prevent a local serial killer named The Butcher. This mysterious mystery is full of surprises; there are no surprises considering that it is an M movie. Night Shyamalan.

If you’re in the mood for clever thrillers (including ones with twists and turns), we’ve got you covered. So, without further ado, dive into movies like “Trap” to get your adrenaline pumping.

“American Psycho” is a dark satire set in the 1980s that follows Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale), a wealthy and narcissistic investment banker from New York City. Bateman leads a double life as a serial killer and the film explores his descent into violent madness. His obsession with his appearance and the richness of his clothes contrasts sharply with his lack of empathy and his growing detachment from reality.

Throughout the film, Bateman’s violent tendencies range from petty cruelty to gruesome murders. The narrative blurs the lines between the truth and his psychotic hallucinations, leaving the audience wondering what is real. As you’ve probably already guessed, this movie has a lot of similarities to “Trap,” since the protagonist is so truthful.

Of course, I had to upload at least one M movie. Night Shyamalan to this list. ” “Split” stars James McAvoy as Kevin Wendell Crumb, a man with dissociative identity disorder (DID) who has 23 distinct personalities. The plot centers on the kidnapping of three teenage girls – Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy), Claire (Haley Lu Richardson) and Marcia (Jessica Sula) – by one of Kevin’s most dominant personalities, known as “Dennis”.

While the women are held captive, they meet other personalities within Kevin, including a strict matriarch named “Patricia” and a nine-year-old boy named “Hedwig. ” The film explores the complexities of Kevin’s condition, with a specific focus on the emergence of a 24th personality known as “The Beast”, who possesses superhuman strength and a predatory nature. Like “Trap,” we have the untrustworthy protagonist and the unsuspecting kidnapping victim.

“Inside Man” is a mystery centered on a meticulously planned bank robbery orchestrated by Dalton Russell (Clive Owen), who takes hostages at a Manhattan bank. Detective Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington) is called to negotiate, but the scenario becomes more complex with the participation of Madeline White (Jodie Foster), a force agent hired through the president of the bank to discover a secret hidden in a vault fort. This film presents a narrative path that is inserted between the robbery and the following interrogation of the hostages.

“Trap” and “Inside Man” explore a cat-and-mouse dynamic between criminals and law enforcement. The themes of deception and the elaboration of strategic plans are central to both narratives, with the characters cunning and strategic to achieve their goals.

A colleague talked not long ago about the movie “Grand Piano” and I thought it was the best one for this list because, like “Trap”, it is a mystery and also has a musical aspect.

“Grand Piano” stars Elijah Wood as Tom Selznick, a famous pianist who returns to the level after a five-year hiatus due to a paralyzing fear of the level. The film unfolds in a high-stakes concert in which Tom will have to play a grand piano that was once owned by his deceased mentor. Things change when Tom discovers a threatening note written on his sheet music, warning him that he will have to play the performance perfectly or face dire consequences.

When he begins to play, he receives orders through an earpiece from a mysterious sniper (John Cusack) who observes him from the audience. The sniper threatens to kill Tom and his spouse, Emma (Kerry Bishé), if he makes a simple mistake. Tension builds as Tom struggles to regain his composure and play perfectly as he seeks to outsmart the sniper and uncover his motives.

I chose “Deep Red” for the same explanation as the previous option (a mystery with musical themes). The plot follows a pianist named Marcus Daly (David Hemmings), who witnesses the brutal murder of a medium named Helga Ulmann (Macha Méril). As Marcus becomes embroiled in the investigation, he teams up with energetic journalist Gianna Brezzi (Daria Nicolodi) to uncover the identity of the killer.

As Marcus digs deeper, he realizes that the key to solving the murders lies in his fragmented memories of the night Helga killed. This mystery is famous for its complex plot, intense suspense, and the unique visual taste that Argento is known for.
