Many celebrities in Los Angeles have a Pacific Palisades or Malibu zip code. Some took to social media to share their tearful and painful losses, evacuation experiences and encouragement as several wildfires continued burning across the area.
Actor James Woods documented the flames moving closer to his house on X and broke down in tears during an interview with CNN.
“I’m sorry, I thought it would be more powerful than that,” he said about evacuation. “One day swim in the pool and the next day is no longer. “
On Instagram, actor Mark Hamill posted that he and his family evacuated Malibu Tuesday night.
“We evacuated Malibu, so at the last minute small fires broke out on both sides of the road when we approached PCH,” he wrote. “The most terrible fire since 1993, stay safe. ”
Actor Steve Guttenberg said his family safely evacuated their Palisades home but told KCAL News that he is staying behind.
“I’m going to do what I can. I’m going to put on a pair of gloves and see how close I can get, and everyone wants help right now,” Guttenberg said. “Yesterday morning at nine in the morning, it’s an idyllic day. Around 10 in the morning, the sky black, I mean black as night. ”
Cameron Mathison of the “General Hospital” shared a video on Instagram of debris and flames where his house was.
“Our space where our young people were raised and where they sought to one day raise their own,” the actor wrote.
A photo on Instagram via well-known composer Diane Warren shows a serene landscape on the beach centered on a rock.
“This is the last pic I took of Leah’s rock from my beach house. I’ve had this house for almost 30 years,” she wrote. “It looks like it was lost in the fire last nite. There’s a rainbow shining on it which I’m taking as a sign of hope for all creatures who have been affected by this tragedy.”
Actor Eugene Levy, the honorary mayor of the Pacific Palisades, told The Times that his story was trapped as he sought to flee.
“The smoke seemed black and intense on the Tescal Canyon,” Levy told Times. “I didn’t see any flame but the smoke was very dark. ”
Actor Billy Crystal and his wife Janice threw a joint Wednesday in reaction to the Palisades fire.
“Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing. We hurt our friends and neighbors who also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy,” he began. “Janice and I have lived in our home since 1979. Every inch of our space was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away. Of course, we are heartbroken, but with the love of our children and friends, we will get through this. “
Jamie Lee Curtis said her home is safe, but “our beloved neighborhood is gone,” she wrote on Instagram. She also shared a video that looked like an apocalyptic movie set — empty streets, a smoky sky and shells of what use to be buildings.
“Many others have lost everything. Help where you can. Thanks to lifeguards and firefighters,” he wrote.
The personality of reality shows Spencer Pratt published a photo on Instagram, saying that the space of their parents was missing.
“The only positive sign I saw when our space has burned is our son’s bed burned into a heart shape. A sign of how much love there in this space, so grateful for all the years and memories there with our family,” He wrote . Training
The son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Chet Hanks, posted on Instagram, “The neighborhood I grew up in is burning to the ground rn. Pray for the Palisades.”
Actress Mandy Moore is suffering from another fire, the Eaton fire, where 52,000 people were under evacuation orders. His space is in Altadena and he thanked his friends for providing his circle of family with accommodation during his evacuation.
“I look at young people from the immense sadness and concern I feel. I pray for everyone in our beautiful city. So tired of destruction and loss. I don’t know if our space survived,” she wrote on Instagram.
