I am not sure who in Netflix is up to allow videos in the service, but they are doing incredible job this month with new science fiction videos in particular. In the past, Netflix had just added the classics of Christopher Nolan Interstellar and Inception, but now they also obtained the two most successful science fiction videos of 2024.
That would be Furiosa, the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, and Dune Part 2, the sequel to well, Dune Part 1. You can debate which one is better, but both are absolutely excellent and they’re now both available on Netflix, currently placed inside the top 10. Furiosa, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, is #3, while Dune Part 2, starring Timothy Chalamet and Zendaya, is…oops, I just checked and despite being the top 10 list before, it just fell out, replaced by Despicable Me movies.
This is a bit unexpected since the two had a contrary functionality in the box office. Furious has had a lower yield with $ 173 million with a large budget. It is not transparent if George Miller will automatically download The Green Gentle for other Mad Max projects, which is a shame.
Meanwhile, part 2 is one of the most collected films of the year, raising $ 714 million worldwide, much more than the $ 407 million in the first part, and has noticed that Denis Villeneuve directs a third film, which already It is in preparation. He says that it should be done after that, even though there are many more dunes books in the collection.
Both films were very well reviewed, a critical score of 90% for Furiosa with an audience score of 88%. Dune was even higher with a critical score of 92% and an audience score of a staggering 95%. Still, it’s a shame that Furiosa didn’t do more and maybe we won’t get another apocalyptic crop of George Miller. Someone is forcing Elon Musk to watch the videos and maybe he’ll fund a new one. I don’t know, I desperately need more.
Chris Hemsworth had a great time on Netflix’s top 10 right now, not only in Furiosa at No. 3, but also in the No. 1 movie, Mid Sea, a not extraordinarily good film. 2015 film loosely based on Moby Dick. Hemsworth is already an existing Netflix star in the form of two other breakout films, rare genuine hits from Netflix’s original film branch. Extraction 3 is underway.
So watch those movies. Both. I think you’d possibly need to watch Fury Road and a component 1 first, which are also on Netflix, but those are great too. You won’t.
