Ever since Bong Joon-Ho dazzled us all with Parasite, winner of the 2020 film, moviegoers have been dizzy to see what the director prepares next. The South Korean filmmaker is lately assembling the cast for his upcoming film starring Robert Pattinson. In an exciting update in relation to the untitled sci-fi project, a Walking Dead fan favorite has joined the cast.
Steven Yeun reportedly signed on to continue Bong Joon-Ho’s Parasite alongside Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette and Naomi Ackie, via Variety. in many films in recent years, adding the critically acclaimed 2020 film Minari and Jordan Peele Nope’s upcoming horror film. Yeun in the past worked with Bong in Okja in 2017.
Although the upcoming film has yet to win a title, it is based on Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel Mickey7. The novel follows a consumable, disposable worker on a human expedition to colonize an ice world called Niflheim. “Mickey7” is the call of the Sixth cloned iteration of Mickey, who died and regenerated as a clone with his memories intact. When Mickey7 disappears and is presumed dead on a reconnaissance mission, Mickey8 is created, but he refuses to let his clone take his place.
Robert Pattinson has been asked to play Mickey7 since earlier this year, and the Batman actor is said to have been Bong Joon-Ho’s first choice. The eBook has been described as The Martian Meets Dark Matter, and will be the filmmaker’s first film set in space, he is well known for making science fiction videos considered in the afterlife (with his resume adding films like Okja discussed above and Snowpiercer).
After Steven Yeun finished six years in The Walking Dead and became his escape role, the actor shared earlier that he had intentionally rejected the parts that had come to him that looked too much like his zombie killer character. One of the projects got engaged right after leaving AMC’s Bong Joon-Ho horror series Okja.
The Netflix film helped Yeun pave the way for other perfect paintings in films, more commonly of a standalone nature, such as Sorry to Disturb You, the South Korean drama Burning, and Minari. He followed the trail of his new co-star. Robert Pattinson, who for many years directed auteur films as a result of his paintings in Twilight. That replaced him most recently when Pattinson starred in The Batman.
With Steven Yeun as a component of his most recent project, Bong Joon-Ho continues to mark talents forged for his next film. The filmmaker is also preparing an HBO series based on Parasite along with Adam McKay. While you’re waiting for the Mickey7 adaptation, stream those videos you’ll like if Parasite is your favorite.
Homage to the genre now. Horror May Queen. Word webslinger. All of his writing should be read with the voiceover of Sarah Connor’s Terminator 2.
