Top 10 Prime Video Movies: Here Are The Ones You Can Watch Right Now

The Prime Video Top 10 Movies list is a useful tool to get a quick review of the videos that are attracting the most attention from the streaming service’s subscribers. Still, it’s not a foolproof method for locating quality content to watch.

For example, the horror “Night Swim” just rose to third place and is one of the worst videos of 2024 so far. It has a terrible rotten tomato score of 20% to match. However, while there are some questionable features on the list, there are also videos that you must watch, and that’s why I decide on the gems you stream now.

Before we delve into my picks, be sure to note that this list is among the top 10 Amazon Prime videos as of 8 a. m. ET on Wednesday, August 14. Now here are my most sensible picks. . .

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning” was added to Prime Video in the U.S. on July 25, and it has held the No.1 rank ever since. It’s not hard to see why, either. This action franchise has everything a good blockbuster needs: a charismatic lead in Tom Cruise, a talented director in Christopher McQuarrie and enough popcorn thrills to have your adrenaline spiking throughout. It’s not quite the best “Mission: Impossible” to date (2018’s “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” takes that honor), but it’s still epic.

Originally released under the name “Dead Reckoning – Part One,” Paramount has removed the last component so that even though this film sets up a sequel, scheduled for release in 2025, it still tells a complete and satisfying story that is its own. In this seventh “Mission: Impossible” adventure, super spy Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his team face his most elusive enemy, an A. I. rogue known only as the Entity. The reemergence of Hunt’s old adversary, Gabriel (Esai Morales), who holds a grudge against him, adds more demanding and personal situations to the mission.

“Passengers” is a sparkling romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt in a trendy sci-fi setting. Although it has been criticized for some flaws in the story and a confusing characterization, it is a fun adventure with two very nice actors in the background. Set on an interstellar journey that transports 5,000 colonists to humanity’s new home, Chris Pratt plays Jim, a passenger who wakes up after a collision with an asteroid.

Still a few years away from the shipment’s final destination, Jim faces the grim prospect of living alone in this luxury shipment with only an android waiter (Michael Sheen) for company. After a year, she can no longer bear the isolation and makes the resolution to voluntarily wake up another passenger, Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence). The two bond temporarily, but the guilt over Jim’s resolve weighs heavily on him, and the two also have to deal with a risk that puts the entire shipment in danger. “Passengers” is a predictable and unambitious romantic comedy (despite its somewhat abnormal setting), but its protagonists are super captivating and the production design is careful.

“The Hobbit” films were faced with the unenviable task of taking on the greatest fantasy trilogy of all time, “The Lord of the Rings,” and naturally, that’s a bar they failed to reach. While the definitive “Hobbit” was harsh with an overstuffed plot and tasteless writing, the first two have their merits, and “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” is a fun opening chapter. It helps that the cast is so well done, with Martin Freeman as the Best Bilbo Baggins, Richard Armitage as a magnificent Thorin and the return of Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey, excellent.

The beginning of the trilogy begins in the quiet Shire, where the cowardly hobbit Bilbo Baggins is convinced by the sensible old wizard Gandalf to accompany an organization of dwarves led by Thorin on a quest to reclaim their homeland of Erebor from a dragon. that spits fire. , Smaug. Array Bilbo is not usually the adventurous type and temporarily steps out of his comfort zone as the organization encounters all sorts of risks on their journey, including bloodthirsty orcs, cave-dwelling goblins, and horse-eating trolls. men and a small creature known as Gollum. (Andy Serkis).
