With a new score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, How to Blow Up a Pipeline is a mystery involving eight Texas eco-activists (you guessed it) trying to blow up a pipeline to disrupt the crude oil industry.
It’s necessarily an eco-friendly edition of the heist movie, in which activists juggle the FBI escape and their own conflicts and infighting. It’s a bit like Oceans Eleven was remade by replacing the weather rather than the wealth at the center of the film.

Technically, this one is precisely new (it’s been on Max since its launch last September), but its sudden arrival on Netflix is wonderful news for those who don’t have Max.
It is a mystery film starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles (yes, that one) that turns out to have deeply divided critics and viewers. The former give the film a modest freshness of 38% on Rotten Tomatoes, while 74% of audience votes give it a boost.
Now that it’s on Netflix, you can do it yourself. Set in the 1950s, the plot considers the move of Alice and her husband Jack to the town of Victory, which, while probably idyllic on the surface, turns out to hide something sinister in the background.

Another that turns out to have divided critics and audiences (with a 34% to 62% split on Rotten Tomatoes): this Ben Affleck mental mystery reaches a police detective tracking down a suspect who is believed to have the strength to force other people to contribute to his crimes by the force of hypnotic suggestion.
It’s a crazy adventure, with a plot that takes more and more twists and turns as you go. It’s a multi-layered film, and Affleck himself thinks you might not get the most out of it until you watch it twice.

The arrival may not be entirely new, but it simply appeared on Netflix and remains one of the most productive videos released in recent years, with a Rotten Tomatoes critical score of 94% (and 82% for the audience).
Although it is about extraterrestrial beings arriving on Earth, it is not a science fiction story. Amy Adams plays a linguist hired to try to talk to extraterrestrial visitors, before tensions lead to all-out war.
It was widely praised upon its release, but despite Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Film Editing, Production Design and Sound Mixing, it only won Best Sound Editing.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has still reached the level of its life where it’s included in a streaming subscription, but now you can watch it from the comfort of your own home by buying it directly.
Set in 1944 (with a digitally elderly Harrison Ford) and 1969, the plot centers on Jones and his former goddaughter Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) teaming up to try to locate two halves of a time device called the Archimedes dial. It fell into the wrong hands.
Is the first Indiana Jones movie in 15 years the wait? Our deals editor, Rory Mellon, has some perspectives on this in our “See or Wait” column. “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny offers many cinematic spectacles that shine on the big screen,” he wrote.
“However, it lacks the fun aspect of previous Indy releases, and relies too heavily on nostalgia for past films, as it could alienate some enthusiasts who don’t know the lost ark of his last crusade. “
On Rotten Tomatoes, Indiana Jones Five balances a 69% critic score with an 88% audience score. At least it is older than The Crystal Skull Kingdom.
