Travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar died after falling into a gorge in India. She was 27 years old.
According to The Economic Times and The Independent, local police confirmed that Kamdar died on Tuesday, July 16, while traveling with several friends to India. The organization was visiting the Kumbhe Waterfall, located about 80 miles south of Mumbai. While exploring the site, officials reported that Kamdar slipped and fell down his throat while allegedly filming Instagram videos.
“It fell on a piece of hard, slippery rock about ninety meters down the valley and you may not see it at first,” a rescuer told the Economic Times. “They sent him a stretcher tied to ropes to rappel. Six rescuers descended the hill, while another 50 helped at the bottom of the hill.
After the government was alerted to the fall of the creator of the social network, a rescue operation began that lasted six hours due to bad weather, according to the Times. The paramedic told the news outlet that Kamdar responded when he picked up and put on a ventilator while on his way to the hospital. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Kamdar, founded in India, controlled the @theglocaljournal account. The designer describes herself as a “sleuth of travel, luxury finds, coffee, itineraries, tips and sensations,” according to her Instagram bio. She has only about 300,000 followers on the platform. While she was an influencer, she was also a CPA and in the past she worked for Deloitte.
Since news of Kamdar’s passing broke, many have flocked to his new Instagram to leave touching tributes to influencer Aakanksha Monga, who met Kamdar in real life.
“I can’t. She is deeply unhappy and kept me up all night. She was one of the kindest people I know,” Monga responded Wednesday. Please focus on praying for her soul to rest in peace and don’t forget the joy and positivity she brought to our lives.
