Kelce will share the small screen with veteran actors such as Emmy winner Niecy Nash-Betts (fresh from her good fortune in Murphy’s “Dahmer”) and veterans Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville.
Details about the series and Kelce’s character are shrouded in a typical Murphy secret, but the task is to generate a lot of buzz.
The casting news comes as no surprise to those who cling to Kelce’s burgeoning Hollywood ambitions.
Kelce’s new classmate, Niecy Nash-Betts, is the first to reveal the fact in an Instagram post.
The actress posted a video on set that read, “Guys, guess who I’m running with in Grotesquerie?”before panning and revealing Kelce.
“Jump into new territory with Niecy!” the NFL star.
“We’re on site!” Niecy-Betts added.
The caption of the video read: “This is what happens when WINNERS log in!!@killatrav Welcome to Grostequerie [sic]. “
This is Kelce’s first foray into the world of entertainment.
Fans would possibly see his hilarious turn as host of “Saturday Night Live” in 2023.
He also dabbled in unscripted television with his short-lived dating show, “Catching Kelce,” and will be the host of Prime’s upcoming video game show, “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”
Since signing with the CAA last year, he has been actively looking for opportunities beyond the football field.
He recently executive produced the independent film “My Dead Friend Zoe” and is about to produce a documentary about artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
But “Grotesquerie” is a replacement for Kelce.
With her charismatic personality and growing fan base (fueled by her high-profile date with singer Taylor Swift), Kelce looks poised to make a splash in the world of scripted television.
“Grotesquerie” may be just the beginning of a terrifying new bankruptcy for the sports superstar.
