Washington, D.C., 19 August 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – How to stay safe from a pandemic, raise cash for a smart cause, and exercise in parallel? Thanks to the Virtual Walk for Education® from the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), of course! The new virtual fundraiser replaces the annual face-to-face walks that many local UNCF offices organize each spring, summer and fall, adopting what was sometimes a market-by-market technique for a national event.
UNCF’s renewed and highly anticipated National Virtual Walk for Education® aims to make traditionally black schools and universities and academics laugh with the help of individuals, businesses and other donor groups. While the country practices social distance, the occasion will feature interaction participants in activities to walk, run, bike and dance safely, while laughing and making UNCF laugh. The march is scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT / 11 a.m. PDT on Saturday, September 19.
A UNCF survey of more than 5,000 academics on 17 HBCUs found that many face demanding situations such as the family members’ poor health circle, difficulty paying for their expenses, and the overall strain of the ongoing pandemic, and recent protests against police brutality. Support is more necessary than ever as academics and establishments face demanding situations such as COVID-19 and racial disparities.
The current sponsors of UNCF National Virtual Walk for Education® are the sponsor of the PhD, Colgate-Palmolive Company and the national sponsors of the Master, Essentia Water and Arch Capital Group, LTD.
