Former U. S. Senator David Perdue said he would run for governor of Georgia, seeking to oust incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp and defeat former DeKalb County Executive Director Vernon Jones in the Republican primary. Perdue, who has the backing of former President Donald Trump, said he is running for Democratic nominee Stacey Abrams for the state’s most sensible executive post.
ATLANTA — The fight against Georgia’s governor is underway.
The number one Republican promises to be controversial, but Gov. Brian Kemp will reject the attacks more than his own party. Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams recently ran for governor of Georgia.
Here is who is running lately for the governorship of Georgia in 2022.
Gov. Brian Kemp spoke at the Georgia State Capitol on Dec. 2 after former Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams announced her gubernatorial bid.
Gov. Brian Kemp would arguably be the starter of the race, yet he faces a handful of the most sensible challengers.
Kemp has been criticized through his own for not agreeing with former candidate Donald Trump in the 2020 election fight. Trump has made unproven allegations of fraud in Georgia, which Kemp and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger have disputed.
Kemp touted his record as governor, taking on the duty to “make Georgia the number one state for the nation’s business, develop our economy even in the midst of a global pandemic, the largest instructor salary increase in state history, exceeded 52 transparency-related physical care expenditures, and replaced regulations and regulations, reducing the costs of fitness insurance from the personal sector, but also striving to provide more to those in need. “
Gov. Brian Kemp will soon oppose political heavyweights on both sides of the aisle. Former Senator David Perdue’s governor’s crusade is already underway. He is expected to announce it on Monday.
Former Senator David Perdue’s gubernatorial candidacy became apparent on the fifth of Dec. Five, when text updates were released, and he made the official announcement on Monday.
He bids for Senate re-election to Sen. Jon Ossoff in a runoff in January 2021.
Born in Macon, Perdue, a commercial representative and then executive of corporations that move clothing production to Asia. He has become CEO of Reebok, textile company PillowTex and discount store Dollar General. Cousin of Sonny Perdue, former U. S. Governor and Secretary of AgricultureDavid Perdue was elected to the Senate in 2014, defeating Democrat Michelle Nunn.
Perdue, a supporter of Kemp, and the incumbent governor said last week that he hoped Perdue would be “a man of his word” when he came here to support him.
Trump mocked Perdue’s career at a rally in Perry, Georgia.
The Democratic picture in the 2022 gubernatorial race was quiet until Stacey Abrams presented her crusade in a video on Dec. 1.
Abrams said he pledged to the unity of the state and accused Republican candidates of dividing it.
Abrams said as governor, she would put in place a statewide vaccination program, collaborate with law enforcement to fight crime and advocate for Medicaid expansion.
Abrams is a former minority leader of Georgia’s House of Representatives who ran for governor in 2018 and shortly after Kemp.
Jones officially left the Democratic Party and registered as a Republican; announced that he would lead incumbent Gov. Kemp in the 2022 Republican primary.
Vernon Jones is a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, supporting the former president’s handling of the economy and his corrupt efforts to reform justice.
The former DeKalb County Democrat is now aligning himself with Republicans. Jones broke ranks with Democrats to approve the re-election of former President Donald Trump, supported Trump for the Republican president’s handling of the economy and his clumsy justice reform efforts.
Jones made his own complaint about Kemp, tweeting, “If it weren’t for Brian Kemp, Donald Trump would still be the president of this United States. “
Jones is a former state official.
Kandiss Taylor is a Republican activist who works as a trustee in Appling County.
Taylor openly opposed established Republican candidates and called for an audit of the 2020 election.
She said she supported gun and pro-life rights. On her crusade website, Taylor says some of the topics she’s passionate about come with education and intellectual health.
Taylor tweeted a reaction to Stacey Abrams’ announcement:
“We will have our first female governor. A true Georgian who represents the people, morals, the nuclear circle of relatives and protects the Constitution at all costs. “
